Tucked away in rural Jackson Hole is the Center for the Arts, a location which will hold the 7th annual Wyoming Global Technology Summit. Most people unfamiliar with the Cowboy State know Wyoming as the new home of Kanye West’s Yeezy campus, and it is quickly becoming a rural hub for innovation and technology.
This year’s summit will go on as planned and will feature tech entrepreneurs, government leaders, investors and futurists specializing in the fields of Agriculture Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Tele-Healthcare, Venture Capital and Edge Computing.
The event is the creation of John D. Temte, a serial entrepreneur who in 2014 along with Governor Matt Mead founded the Wyoming Global Technology Summit and Jackson Hole Global Technology Partnership to serve as assets to help diversify the state’s economy and bring in new job opportunities.
One of the main goals of the annual summit is to solve the task of accelerating the accessibility of technology in rural areas like Wyoming. These areas are typically small towns that are far from the dense population of big cities, and whose IT infrastructure has hardly kept up with the technological advancements of modern day.
Past summit speakers include Randall Stephenson, AT&T CEO, Dr. Patrick Soon-Shoing, Nantworks CEO and Los Angeles Lakers Co-Owner, Mark Gordon, Governor of Wyoming, Matt Mead, Former Governor of Wyoming, Tom Vilsack, former US Secretary of Agriculture and Governor of Iowa, Ralph de la Vega, President & CEO of AT&T Mobility and numerous venture capital partners.
One of the key speakers at this year’s summit, current Governor of Wyoming Mark Gordon, will be moderating a session on how to get venture capital outside of Silicon Valley. Another session which figures to generate a lot of discussion and interest is the session on advancing agriculture technology and innovation in rural communities.
There are limited tickets available to the public for those who wish to attend, with a discounted ticket price for any students who are interested in attending. This year’s summit is scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 1, 2020.
